Sunflower Overlay Mosaic Crochet Sweater Pattern

This pattern is for a crocheted sweater with a large sunflower motif, using overlay mosaic crochet techniques. The sweater has a circular yoke, made top down in the round, requiring no seaming. The body and the sleeves are made with the Block Stitch. The bottom of the body has a mosaic section with leaf motifs.

The color gradient if the design was achieved by using YarnArt Bouquet yarn color “721” as Color B. For sizes XS, S and M, one cake is usually enough, for larger sizes, you will need two cakes. Color A is either black or white in Premier Cotton Sprout or a similar yarn.

This pattern is not complicated, but if you are completely new to crochet as a craft, this will be too challenging as a first project. If you are confident in your basic crochet skills, but new to mosaic crochet, this may be a good challenge project.
If you are experienced with mosaic crochet, you may find this project easy – some instructional details or explanations may be unnecessary for you.

This sweater is worked from the neck down. This allows you to try it on early, see how it fits, and make necessary adjustments. Basic instructions for adjustments are also provided in the pattern.
Left handed crocheters: you can work on this pattern without any problems. Left handed (mirrored) mosaic charts are provided, and the written instructions work for both right handed and left handed people.

The pictures show the short sleeve version summer top, made with 100% cotton yarn. It is shown with a black base and a white base. You can make it into a pullover sweater with long sleeves for colder weather, using acrylic or other warmer yarn, with matching weight (DK) and matching gauge. The pattern includes instructions for two types of long sleeves: straight and tapered. Approximate yarn amounts are provided for the short-sleeve version; you will need more yarn if you want to make it with long sleeves.
