We’re excited to share the Sungem Sweater, a pattern that features a colorful stripe along the sleeve. The stripe can be made straight or wavy -- both colorwork charts are included! This pattern includes feminine and masculine fit styles, although the fit of both styles is overall gender-neutral.

This pullover uses a combination of sport or DK-weight yarn held together with one or two strands of silk-mohair. Our recommended combination of DROPS Alpaca or Flora with DROPS kid-silk makes a fabric with a beautiful drape that feels super soft on the skin. The gradient stripe along the sleeve is created using different blends of DK-weight yarn held together with two strands of silk-mohair. For more information on building these gradients, please see our accompanying reference guide, available for free on our Ravelry designer page.

The Sungem Sweater is knit from the bottom up and has a set-in shoulder construction. The sleeves are set-in for larger sizes and approach a drop shoulder fit as the size decreases; the masculine size S and feminine size XS are a true drop-shoulder construction. All sizes feature a relaxed fit with roomy sleeves. The piece is knit partly in the round and partly back-and-forth.

This pattern is intermediate difficulty, primarily due to the intarsia colorwork on the sleeves, which requires the use of up to 13 bobbins at once. The body piece is straightforward and only requires basic knitting skills, including casting on, decreasing, and binding off.

The pattern features useful diagrams and tables to make the process as easy as can be. To calculate the yarn lengths you will need, you can either refer to the tables in the pattern, or use our calculator, available here.
