Sunrise Sunset is inspired by the colors of the sun rising and setting over the ocean. One of the first places Aaron took me when we moved to Salem was a small restaurant where the sun sets over the water (this is a rarity based on where this restaurant is located). It is still one of those special memories we hold dear, and I hope this pattern translates the same emotions and feelings to you as you knit it and wear the final piece.

I had already dreamed up this pattern right before Indie Untangled last year. I met Ann of Plied Yarn and mentioned the idea to her and she loved it, so this collaboration was born! Plied Yarn is just the perfect yarn for this design.

Sunrise Sunset is a yoked, colorwork sweater, worked from the top down. It is knit to be a little cropped so that it can be worn with jeans, dresses, and skirts, or however you choose to wear it, but it can easily be lengthened as well.

The colorwork pattern is charted.

Construction
This yoked sweater is knit from the top down in the round. The sweater begins by working the neckband. Then short rows are worked to add height to the back neck. From there, you will begin working the colorwork chart. Once you have finished the yoke section, you will separate the sleeves and body. Front and back are joined at the underarms to knit in the round. The body is worked in the round, finishing with a bottom hem trim rib. The sleeve stitches that are on hold are then worked in the round to the cuff.
