What to do with your favorite self striping sock yarn that you want to show off?

A fitted #sizeinclusive tank top knit using self striping sock yarn to create a vertically striped peplum skirt.

This is the pattern for the adult sizes only. For kids sizes 2T-10, see the Sunset Boulevard Mini

Sizes: 1 (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9)
Finished Chest Measurements: 30 (34, 38, 42, 46, 50, 54, 58, 62)
Notes on sizing:
1- This top is meant to be work with slight negative ease. I recommend you choose the finished measurement with a bust size just smaller than your bust measurement. In the sample photos, I’m wearing a size 3 with a 38” finished measurement. I have a 39” bust.
2 - There are 2 versions of the body of this pattern. A tapered fit version in which the waist is smaller than the chest and increases are worked before reaching the chest - and a straight fit version in which the waist and chest measurements are the same and no increases are worked. There are also optional bust darts which can be worked with either version. The bust darts are not necessary, but I highly recommend them for the best fit for anyone with larger than a C cup. The sample is shown with bust darts.

Needles: US 5 (3.25mm) 24” or 32” circular needle and US 3 (3.25) 16” circular needle or size needed to obtain gauge. US size 1 (2.25mm) circular needles – length not important – to use for picking up stitches.

Yarn: Biscotte Yarns Bis-Sock 85% Merino SW, 15% Nylon 435yds/100g
Self-striping coloway - Fiji Islands – 40 (45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 80, 90)g – 1 skein for all sizes (if you are knitting the size 9 straight fit, you will likely use all 100g. If you are using a fingering weight yarn with less than 435yds, you may need 2 skeins)
Solid color – Epinette – 70 (80, 90, 100, 110, 120, 130, 140, 150)g – these measurements are for knitting the body to approx. 8” as it’s shown in the sample. Depending on the size you are knitting, please account for an additional 5-10g per added inch of length.

Gauge: 5 sts and 8 rows =1” on larger needles – please note, if you’re using different yarns for the body and peplum, I highly recommend swatching with both. You may find that you want to use a different size needle for each part.
