This shawlette is the perfect size for draping over your shoulders on a chilly morning. Using two different needles sizes is a simple technique that creates a gentle ruffle to add texture without being over the top or too busy. A simple flower stitch also adds subtle detail and texture to an otherwise straight stockinette stitch broken by bands of garter stitch during two simple increases using the knit front back (kfb) stitch. The pattern results in a oblong crescent shape without having to use short rows.

The gentle ruffle is achieved by using two different needle sizes. I used size 2 and size 9 needles, but a similar size range would also work (for example, size 3 and size 10).

Additionally, this pattern can be made with other yarn weights such as sport and dk. Adjust needle sizes as desired for gage.
