This project may be worked in a wide range of yarn weights at a variety of gauges. I have used yarns ranging from Fingering to Worsted.
You will need two contrasting yarns of similar weights and a third colour for Version 2.

Aim for a nice, soft fabric that gives sufficient coverage of the colour behind. Choose a needle size suited to your yarn. The needle size suggested on the ball band is often appropriate, as stocking stitch DK fabric is looser than regular stocking stitch
