I designed a lightweight vest for the Spring 2026 issue, which I kept, and I liked it so much I decided to design a cardigan using the same basic construction. I chose Purl Soho Spindle, which I have used before as I love the drape of the fabric. I plan to keep this sweater as well.

I chose to use two colors and the intarsia technique. A lace pattern is worked on either side of the center back. This pattern is repeated at the bottom border and the front borders as well. Rather than working buttonholes, I decided to just join the right and left fronts when picking up the neckband. (I’ve worn the vest quite a few times and have never been tempted to unbutton it!)
