The Susannah Cowl is a combination of two of my favorite shawl patterns; Odetta and Detta. Do you recognize the names? Odetta and Detta are two personalities in the Stephen King series “The Gunslinger. In the story, they eventually merge into Susannah so I thought it fitting that a cowl combining these two designs should be called Susannah too.

You will need a main color and two mini skeins to complete your Susannah and you can choose either the Detta or Odetta versions as both are included in your download.

This makes a light drapey fabric and the design mimics a triangular shawl tied in back but without any ends to fight with.

I love playing with short rows and mini-skeins and this shawl is the perfect way to show off a special mini skein or two you’ve acquired or even leftovers from a favorite project that you’re still in love with.

Gauge
16 sts and 28 rows = 4” or 10 cm in garter stitch, blocked. Your yarn may produce a different gauge but it is most important to obtain a light draped fabric before choosing needles to cast on with. If choosing a different gauge more yarn may be required.

Finished Measurements
54” (135cm) circumference
13” (32.5) deep (back)
27” (67.5) deep (front)

Pattern Notes
-The pattern uses more of CC2 so if one of your mini skeins is slightly smaller (helps to weigh them before starting) make that one CC1.
