This design first appeared in the March 2018, Issue 48 of Happily Hooked Magazine, which featured eco-friendly & green projects. My original design was in Baby Bee’s Sweet Delight in the Sage Green colorway, but the editor had asked me to try out Knit Picks Simply Cotton Sport Yarn as an eco-friendly alternative, and sent it to me to use.

This shawl features one of my favorite stitch patterns - the Suzette stitch. I am in love with the texture this stitch pattern creates, and it’s really easy to work up being made up of only single and double crochets.

Materials:

  • 1,312 Yards of Sport Weight #2 Yarn - I used 8 skeins of Knit Picks Simply Cotton Sport in the Marshmallow colorway
  • H8/5mm Crochet Hook
  • Tapestry Needle

Yarn Alternatives:
If cotton is the desired fiber, I recommend a blend with some acrylic or nylon within it to help it keep it’s shape - Lion Brand’s Coboo or Truboo are excellent options. For something a little warmer, try Berroco’s Vintage DK, or Baby Bee’s Sweet Delight.

Measurements:
45” (59”) Wide by 14.5” Tall

Gauge - Not Essential:
In Pattern: 8 Clusters by 14 Rows = 4”

Abbreviations:

  • SC - Single Crochet
  • DC - Double Crochet
