Svalinn is a simple lace cowl with matching gauntlets. They are great stashbuster projects that feature a picot edge and beads. The motif is only 2 rows and is easy to memorize.

Cowl specs:
200 m / 218 yards of fingering weight yarn
240 beads to fit yarn
height 9” / 23 cm
circumference 24” / 60 cm

Gauntlet specs:
100 m / 109 yards of fingering weight yarn
120 beads to fit yarn
length 6.5” / 16.5 cm
circumference 7” / 18 cm

Instructions are provided to adjust both the circumference and height/length of the cowl and gauntlets.

ERRATA: If you downloaded this pattern before 22 December 2018, there is an error in the number of reps to work for the cowl. The correct number is 6, not 7: there should be 12 beads in each column after the final rep. Version 3 contains all corrections so far.

Svalinn is part of my collection Among the Æsir, a series of accessories named for the Norse gods and their world. In Norse mythology, Svalinn is a shield that stands before the sun and prevents the mountains and seas from burning up.
