This sweater is Chicago, mapped out by textures inspired by the culture of its neighborhoods, deep south side to far north side, from Chinatown and into Greek Town and Ukrainian Village, then downtown Chicago through Cabrini Green and Little Italy, and north where the German markets and Polish bars are still hard to navigate in English, ending up at Devon Avenue.

This sweater is worked from the bottom up with little shaping. Stitches are held for the sleeves as each front and the back are worked. Stitches are picked up for the sleeves and worked in the round to the cuffs. Stitches are picked up around the neckline and a button band is worked.

Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted, 100% Wool; 225 yds/113 g: Charcoal 7 (8, 9, 9, 10, 12) skeins.
