These days, statement collars are on everything from blouses and denim, to sweaters and coats. They’re everywhere, from the runway to everyday wear.

I’ve decided to make myself a sweater with my own version of the statement collar.This project is easy to knit but since it is a custom knit, I have labelled it as intermediate. You knit according to your measurements, yarn used and your gauge, so you need to do some calculations up front before you start to knit.

This sweater is knitted flat and seamed at the shoulders and sides. Shoulders are shaped using German short rows and a three needle bind off. Sleeves are knitted in the round and then attached to each side of the pullover. The collar is done by picking up stitches around the neck and knitted flat.

The sweater is knitted holding two strands of yarn together throughout.
