This toy is a bit corny!

My new vegetable toy is a sweetcorn. The texture of the corn on the cob is created by knitting in hurdle stitch which is a simple combination of knit and purl stitches.

I have been working on a box of different vegetables, and if you are new to making knitted toys these make an easy introduction to the craft as they don’t have lots of pieces to sew together.

  • The pattern is 3 pages and written in English only.
  • You will need to know how to cast on and off, knit, purl, work increases and decreases, and sew a seam.
  • If you are a beginner knitter this pattern may introduce you to some new techniques including: A double increase (knit into the front, back and front again of a stitch to make 2 additional stitches), and a psso decrease (pass the slipped stitch over).

  • A pair of straight 2.75mm knitting needles (US 2)
  • DK yarn (double knitting or light worsted weight)
  • A few handfuls of toy filling
  • Toy safety eyes
  • A stitch holder

Pattern for personal use only; not for resale
