I recently made a beautiful Sweetfern Hat using the pattern by Ragline Knits. That project turned out so well that I decided to design matching Sweetfern Mitts. I love the added texture from the slub fingering yarn.

The Sweetfern Mitts are knit in the round from the wrist up in two-color garter stitch with a brioche column centered on the top of the hand. The pattern is written in one size, but has plenty of stretch to accomodate multiple hand sizes. The pattern requires approximately 115 yards (125 m) for the main color and 90 yards (100m) for the contrasting color.

Yarn:

Graphic Dyeworks Swash Slub Fingering (90% superwash merino, 10% nylon; 438 yd (400m)/100g), colorway Rooted for the main color and Graphic Dyeworks Baseline Fingering (80% superwash merino, 20% nylon; 400 yd (365m)/100g), colorway Prehnite for the contrast color.

Needles:

US 2 or 2 1/2 (3 mm) needles suitable for working small circumferences in the round

Knitted Measurements:

-Length: 8 1/2” (21 cm)
-Hand Circumference: 7” (18 cm) unstretched

Gauge:

26 sts and 56 rows = 4” (10 cm) in garter stitch
