SWIFFER SOCK IN
MOCK GARTER STITCH

Mock garter stitch is a way of getting ridges across a knitted fabric. These ridges give this Swiffer cover extra scrubbing power.

YARN, GAUGE, SIZE AND MACHINE
Use any machine and almost any yarn. 5 gauges are given It is very helpful if your machine will knit back from hold and most will. Some of the more basic hobby machines, such as the Bonds won’t do that. See below for instructions about making the pattern work anyway.

The actual measurement of the bottom of a Swiffer pad is 4.5 X 10”. We knit the bottom of this cover slightly larger at about 5.5 X 12” which will wrap around the edges of the Swiffer so that the scrubbing ability extends to the very edges. To this we add an elastic casing.
