This swing vest is knit in garter stitch using a combination of mitered squares and short rows to shape the connected triangles. Each side is worked from front to back. The two sides are joined using a 3-needle bind off at the center back. The collar is knit onto the body by picking up stitches and working symmetrical increases at the shoulders and center back.

Each triangle of the body is worked by the same method, in three sections:

  • Section A: Decreases at the edge
  • Section B: Mitered square forms the corner
  • Section C: Short rows form the angled edge Stitches for the next triangle are a combination of active stitches from the short rows and stitches picked up along the edge of triangle A.
