If you’ve ever hiked up a mountain, you have likely encountered switchbacks…those zigzags on the trail for climbing a steep hill. The Switchback Beanie mimics those mountain trails, but without the strenuous activity! ;)

The Switchback Beanie is a fun knit that only uses u-knits and purls to create a great hat for your own adventures. The pattern includes two patterns: one where every row is written out, and one that incorporates the Switchback chart. You decide which type of pattern to use to knit this eye-catching unisex beanie.

The beanie is knit on any 3/8” gauge round loom, like Knitting Board’s Flexee skinny loom links or the All In One loom. The hat uses 80 pegs connected to make a circle loom.

The Switchback Beanie uses approximately 150 yards of a worsted weight yarn and is suitable for a advanced beginner loom knitter who is ready to take on a new challenge. The sample was knit using Caron Simply Soft Tweeds, a worsted 4 weight yarn, in the Taupe colorway.
