Sylvan Echo is one of those shawls that looks far more complicated than it actually is.
There is something wonderfully satisfying about watching the branches grow across the fabric, one leafy sprig at a time. The three-colour background keeps things lively and intriguing, while the leaves stand out almost as if they had been embroidered onto the shawl.
The pattern is fully written and completely charted.
Construction
Sylvan Echo shawl is started with a 3-color garter tab (video tutorial included), then continued as a normal triangular shawl with lateral increases and central double increases.
This construction helps creating movement in the branches and leaves, as if they grew naturally from the center of the shawl.
3-color Echo knitting
This shawl is worked using my 3-color Echo Knitting technique: each row is worked using just one color in a steady sequence, and the colorwork is achieved simply slipping some stitches, creating vertical lines almost effortlessly.
The leaf are created with dip stitches, adding interest and depth to the shawl, and fun to the knitting.

I strongly recommend to make a small swatch to become familiar with the leaf stitch before starting this project.
