Sylvana is a layered hat using two different weights of yarn - approximately 150 metres of a DK weight yarn and approximately 175 metres of a 2ply/laceweight yarn. The laceweight is held double for the band.

Construction is bottom-up from a tubular cast-on (optional). After knitting the band the underhat is first knitted in the DK yarn and then the overhat is knitted in the laceweight on picked up stitches from the band. The underhat and overlace are married together through the blocking process.

The pattern includes full round-by-round written instructions.

Yarn details above are for the blue sample. The mauve sample uses Austermann Merino Silk (DK weight) and Zitron Filigran (2ply/laceweight).
