A syrenka is a mermaid or water siren. The green, blue, and silver shades of this half-circle shawl remind me of the waterdrops and shimmering scales of this mythical creature.

I designed this shawl to be a fun knit, with changing colors and stitch patterns to keep you engaged but in easy-to-work stitches that won’t stress you out. You’ll start by casting on a small number of stitches, then you’ll work increase rows periodically to create the half-circle shape. To make it easy, all the increases are clustered in the increase rows, so you don’t have to worry about forgetting them as you go along.

Cascade 220 Sport colors shown:
A = Azure (8892)
B = Sage (9593)
C = Lake Chelan Heather (9451)
D = Silver Gray (8401)
E = Turtle (2452)

This is a terrific pattern for playing with color. Try different shades of a single color; a rainbow sequence; self-striping yarn; wild brights; or use odds and ends of yarn for a randomized delight.

Above all else, HAVE FUN!
