This pattern solves the problem of your shortie socks slipping down into your shoes. The heel tab gives you that little bit of extra fabric while the hemmed cuff stays low in your shoe.

I was inspired to make these after making a similar sock by Sue Vunesky, the CSM Heel Tab “No Show” Socks, on my circular sock machine. The knitters in my knit group were all wishing they had some! So I designed this hand knit version.

This pattern includes both cuff down and toe up instructions.

Self-striping sock yarn: You may prefer a short row heel that does not require you to knit across the instep stitches. I would suggest Roxanne Richardson’s video on three ways to do a short row heel.
