Decorate your home with some beautiful tabletop Christmas trees this Festive season!

These Christmas Trees are worked from the top down, and can be made to any height. They are constructed as hollow cones, so no stuffing is required.

I have given full pattern instructions to make a 1ft tall tree, with a base diameter of 5 inches, using Chunky/ Bulky weight yarn and a 5mm hook. I have also given the formula to keep growing your tree, to make any height you like. You can also stop earlier, to make smaller trees.

You can use any yarn weight you prefer, with a hook size 1mm smaller than recommended on the label, to make any sized tree. Using Aran/Worsted weight yarn with a 4mm hook will produce a tree approx. 9” tall with a base diameter of 4”, following the same 1ft pattern.

You can leave them plain, or decorate them with fairy lights, ribbons, mini tinsel, button, or charms for a more festive look.

Gauge:
Exact gauge isn’t too important. You just want to keep your stitches compact, using 1mm hook size smaller than recommended on your yarn label, to make the tree cone sturdy enough to stand up on its own.
As a guide, my gauge measures: 2” square = 8 hdc x 2 pattern repeats (8 rounds), using Chunky yarn and a 5mm hook.

You will need:
• Your choice of yarn - To work the full 1ft (12”) tree pattern in Chunky/Bulky weight yarn, you’ll need approx. 200yds, allow extra if you intend on adding more repeats to make a taller tree. Working the same 1ft pattern in Aran/Worsted weight yarn to make a 9” tree, will require approx. 150 yds.
• A 5mm hook for Chunky/Bulky yarn (or hook 1mm smaller than recommended on your yarn label),
• Yarn needle,
• Scissors.

Optional extras:
Battery powered fairy lights (2m copper wire LED lights work well), ribbon, buttons or charms.
