This pattern was inspired by seeing takahe (a threatened NZ flightless swamp hen) in the wild. NZ DK wool (about 125g) is used to create a cute cuddly version of the takahe. Colours required are purple for the body, green for the head and wings, red for the feet and black for the claws and eyes (if the toy is for a child under 3 years otherwise 9mm black plastic safety eyes can be used).
