Tamback starts like a hat, ends as a shawl, and is pure pleasure to knit.

It’s worked in the round, stranded, with steeks down the sides. Borders, which provide a neat hem to hide the steeks, are picked up and knitted flat.

Because there’s no shaping, this would be a nice project for a first-time steeker, although some previous stranded experience will be helpful.

Kits are available in two gorgeous colorways at sundayknits.com.
