Create a splash of joyful colour this winter with this quick and fun beanie.

SparrowPlay group here.

The pattern is three pages and approx 600kb. It is arranged so you only need to print out one page if you want to work from paper.

Important Notes about the Pattern:

(1) You can use either DK/8ply or Worsted/10ply yarn. The heavier yarn will result in a denser fabric and possibly a bigger hat (which might be desirable). You can always go up a needle size to change the fabric if you wanted to. The elastic 1x1 ribbing around the brim means the hat is very forgiving of small variations in size.

(2) If you are a beginner attempting this pattern - good on you! But please remember it is not my job to teach you how to knit or read patterns over the internet. You can post general knitting questions in some of the Ravelry forums, such as Patterns or Techniques. You are also more likely to get fast help from someone online/in the same time zone.

Skills needed:

  • Long-tail cast on
  • Ribbing
  • Knitting in the round
  • Slipping stitches
  • Three-needle bind-off (explained in pattern)

With many thanks to my awesome testers jailou, stitchknitwitch, jkaye, dentnutter, Mittagirl, mlb and sandyvar.
