DEUTSCH UNTEN

Taren is a unisex sweater created to embody warmth, comfort, and balance. I chose the name Taren for its clean and timeless sound – to me, it reflects strength in simplicity and the quiet harmony I wanted this design to carry.

The idea for this pullover was born when I came across a wonderfully intricate cable pattern in Norah Gaughan’s Knitted Cable Sourcebook. Seeing the depth and movement of those stitches inspired me to design a sweater where cables could play the leading role – not just as decoration, but as the structural heart of the garment.

To bring this vision to life, I turned to one of my favorite yarns for winter: Drops Air. Its airy construction and softness make the sweater exceptionally cozy, while still being light and easy to wear. The result is a warm, comfortable piece with striking texture – designed to feel timeless and truly unisex.

The ease across sizes is 31-35 cm/12.5-14”. The picture shows size 2 with 34.5 cm/13.75” of positive ease.

AIR by DROPS, Aran/Medium weight (65% Alpaca, 28% Polyamide, 7% Wool), 150 m/164 yds in 50 Gr.

NEEDLES:
• 3 mm/U.S. size 2.5 80 cm/32” circular needles
• 3 mm/U.S. size 2.4 dpns or your preferred needles for knitting small circumference in the round (cuffs)
• 4 mm/U.S. size 6 80 cm/32” circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge
• 4 mm/U.S. size 6 circular needles or your preferred needles for knitting small circumference in the round (sleeves)

17 sts/24 RNDs = 10 cm/4” square in pattern of 2 knit Rows/2 purl Rows on 4 mm/U.S. size 6 needles after blocking

PATTERN NOTES:
• The sweater is worked in one piece top down.
• You start with the back, then shoulders and front and then connect the front and the back together and work in the round.
• Then you pick up stitches for neck and work the folded neckband.
• Finally, you pick up stitched for sleeves and work the sleeves.

DEUTSCH:

Taren ist ein Unisex-Pullover, der Wärme, Komfort und Balance verkörpern soll. Den Namen Taren habe ich wegen seines klaren, zeitlosen Klangs gewählt – für mich spiegelt er Stärke in der Schlichtheit wider und die ruhige Harmonie, die dieses Design ausstrahlen soll.
Die Idee zu diesem Pullover entstand, als ich in Norah Gaughans Knitted Cable Sourcebook auf ein wunderbar komplexes Zopfmuster gestoßen bin. Die Tiefe und Bewegung dieser Maschen haben mich sofort inspiriert, einen Pullover zu entwerfen, in dem Zöpfe die Hauptrolle spielen – nicht nur als Dekoration, sondern als strukturelles Herzstück des gesamten Kleidungsstücks.
Um diese Vision umzusetzen, habe ich eines meiner liebsten Wintergarne gewählt: Drops Air. Durch seine luftige Konstruktion und weiche Haptik wird der Pullover außergewöhnlich kuschelig, bleibt dabei aber angenehm leicht und unkompliziert zu tragen. Das Ergebnis ist ein warmes, bequemes Teil mit markanter Textur – zeitlos gedacht und wirklich unisex.
Die Mehrweite über alle Größen beträgt 31–35 cm. Das Foto zeigt Größe 2 mit 34,5 cm positiver Mehrweite.

ANMERKUNGEN
• Der Pullover wird in einem Stück von oben nach unten gearbeitet.
• Zunächst wird das Rückenteil gearbeitet, anschließend Schultern und Vorderteil; danach werden Vorder- und Rückenteil verbunden und die Arbeit wird in Runden fortgesetzt.
• Danach werden Maschen für den Halsausschnitt aufgenommen und das doppelte (umgeschlagene) Halsbündchen gearbeitet.
• Zum Schluss werden Maschen für die Ärmel aufgenommen und die Ärmel gearbeitet.
