This pattern is included in the book, Keepers of the Sheep: Knitting in Morocco’s High Atlas and Beyond.

The pattern is based off of traditional High Atlas leg warmer motifs. The leg warmers are knit from the top down and are suitable for sport or DK weight yarn; although, the pattern is flexible and can be adjusted to accommodate other yarn weights.
