I’ve always felt that my tarot cards are infused with the soft magic of my intentions. With the desire in mind to protect that magic, this pouch was created. Is there a better way to protect your deck than in something you created with loving hands? When you’re not using your cards, keeping them tucked away in a handknit pouch is a lovely way to keep your energy and intentions connected with them.

While this pouch was created with tarot cards in mind, it also makes for a great place to store any trinkets and treasures you, or the little ones in your life, may have gathered along the way.

The bag is worked seamlessly, bottom up, and uses only about 20 grams of fingering weight yarn, so it makes for a great stash busting project.

Materials:

  • One US 3/ 3.25mm 24’’ circular needle, or DPNs
  • One US 2/ 2.75mm circular needle, or DPNs
  • Approximately 85 yards, or 20 grams, of fingering weight yarn. Sample used Madelinetosh Merino Light in Mandala
  • Tapestry Needle

Gauge:
* 7 stitches & 8 rows in 1” across stockinette

Notes:

  • I created this pouch to fit my set of The Wild Unknown Tarot Cards. Their dimensions are: 4.75” x 2.75” x 1.25”

  • The bind-off edging of the pouch requires a stitch count multiple of 18 to be worked evenly, so if you adjust the sizing, keep that in mind when increasing

  • Feel free to get creative with the ends of the drawstring. I chose tassels, but you could add feathers, charms, crystals, or anything else that feels right!
