Baeja is a traditional Korean vest worn over Jeogori of Hanbok. It dates back to Three Kingdoms Period and has been worn since then.
Throughout history there was a time when Baeja became less popular because of the costumes newly introduced from the West. But at the end of 20C it regained its popularity and is still worn today.
Tartan patterns are about celebrating Scottish identity and tradition, yet they are vastly loved in fashion world at the same time.
“Tartan Baeja” is a reinterpretation of traditional Baeja in modern ways.

Tartan Baeja is worked from the top down. The body is worked in the round then the armholes and the front opening is created by steeking.

This pattern is charted and includes written instructions and detailed tutorial photos.
