This beautiful fairisle whistle case has a tartan design and bird detail at the top.

The case is knit in the round on double pointed 3mm needles. It is knit as one piece from the bottom up so that the bottom just needs to be sewn shut once knitted.

The sample is knit with fingering weight yarn, Jamieson’s 2-Ply Spindrift (Shetland Wool), one ball of each of the three colours: Port Wine, Eggshell, and Pine Forest. Each ball is 25 grams / 105 meters. However there are lots of other potential great colour combinations and other types of yarn that would suite this pattern!

The pattern includes charts for the tartan and fairisle sections of the case.

The pattern is designed to fit a large D Irish Whistle however it could easily be shortened by reducing the number of tartan chart repeats for a small/shorter whistle.

Happy knitting!
