This pattern is for a crocheted picnic blanket designed to look as close as possible to tartan. The blanket is made in two stages, the first being some very easy crochet. Then the second stage, to achieve the tartan effect, involves weaving strands of yarn in and out of the crochet work in stripes.

The pattern is written for a blanket of one size, approximately 100cm wide by 150cm long, but can be resized to the size you would prefer. The instructions for this are included in the pattern.
