My love of the 19th and early-20th century eras also extends to my choice of reading material and the television shows and movies I watch! Therefore, I am a fan of the popular “Downton Abbey” series. One of the most wonderful characters in it is, I think, Violet Crawley—Lady Grantham. I first intended to name my shawl the “Tea With Lady Violet” Shawl but quickly realized how it may offend her sense of etiquette, as her proper title is not ”Lady Violet” but “Lady Grantham.”

This is the second shawl I’ve designed inspired by the Downton Abbey KAL 2014. The designer of the KAL shawl, Kristen Ashbaugh-Helmreich, has graciously given me permission to do this. If you have any questions about either crochet shawl please message me.

As crochet is so much denser than knitting, and the stitches larger, I am using a sock/fingering weight yarn. To get about the same gauge as the knit version I am using a 3.5 mm hook.

The instructions have been compiled into a single pdf file which can be purchased here on Ravelry or on my blog.
