Teacup Coasters Pattern

Stitches used:

  • Chain (ch), Slip stitch, Double Crochet (dc)

The design comes from forming stitches in between two stitches of the previous row. In Round 3 we form a cluster of 2 double crochet stitches and in Round 4 we form a cluster of 3 double crochet stitches.

Round 1: Ch 4; slip stitch in first chain to form ring

Round 2: Chain 3 (counts as first dc), 11 dc in ring. Slip stitch to top of chain 3 to complete round (12 stitches)

Round 3: Slip stitch in between the first and second dc. Chain 3, dc in same space (this forms one 2dc cluster); 2 dc between second and third dc. Repeat around with 2 dc in between all spaces. Slip stitch to top of chain 3 to complete round (12 2dc clusters/24 dc stitches)

Round 4: Slip stitch in between the first and second 2dc cluster. Chain 3, 2 dc in same space (this forms a 3dc cluster); 3 dc between second and third 2dc cluster. Repeat around with 3 dc in between all 2dc cluster spaces. Slip stitch to top of chain 3 to complete round (12 dc clusters/36 dc stitches)

Round 5: Slip stitch to second dc of the first 3dc cluster of previous round. 3 dc in between the first and second 3dc cluster. Skip the next stitch. Slip stitch in second stitch of 3dc cluster. Repeat around. Slip stitch in to the stitch we had started the round with. Fasten off.
