This pattern can be used to create octopi of any size. Using DK weight yarn and 3.25mm needles will produce an octopus approximately 5” tall and with a 10” tentacle span. I have also knit smaller octopi using sock yarn and 2mm needles. Just be sure to use smaller needles than your yarn recommends for a tight gauge. I use polyester toy stuffing.
