You will need small amounts of Red, Blue, Orange and Purple. 1 skein of green thread should be enough for the turtles heads. Each head starts with the mask. They are all made individually then seamed or crocheted together. A standard acrylic 8ply/DK was used for the pattern sample. This made an approximately 2 1/2″-3″ high head – whole length about 45″ (with 12 heads and a joining strip of tan colored yarn). Of course you can use lighter or heavier yarn and make as many turtles as you like.
