Tenderfoot Socks combine delicate stitch details with the comfort of a classic hand-knitted sock. Slipped-knit columns stand out against a reverse-stockinette background, flowing from the patterned cuff down the leg and foot.

Worked from the cuff down using Magic Loop or double-pointed needles, the socks feature a reinforced slip-stitch heel, a shaped gusset and a smooth stockinette wedge toe finished with Kitchener stitch.

Sizes: EU 34–35 / 36–37 / 38–40 / 41–42 / 43–44

Materials:
Fingering-weight sock yarn (420 m/100 g), 1 skein for a pair, for example:

• Kremke Sole Mate — 75% wool, 25% biodegradable polyamide (100 g / 420 m)
• Kremke Edelweiss — 75% wool, 25% polyamide (100 g / 420 m)
• Regia 4-ply — 75% superwash wool, 25% nylon (100 g / 420 m) Or another sock yarn with a similar meterage that gives the required gauge.

Needles and tools:

• 2.25 mm circular needle with a long cable or double-pointed needles
• 2.5 mm circular needle or double-pointed needles for the heel
• Stitch markers
• Tapestry needle

Gauge:
33–34 sts × 46–47 rows = 10 × 10 cm in stockinette stitch after washing and blocking, using 2.25 mm needles

Techniques include knitting in the round, slipped stitches, small stitch crosses, increases and decreases, heel turning, picking up stitches and Kitchener stitch.
