Tendril is an asymmetrical shawl worked in two fingering-weight yarns, combining simple garter stitch with a wide, decorative lace border.

One side of the shawl is worked in garter stitch, while the other features a wide lace border with a twisted motif and a beautiful leaf motif running all the way along it. The garter stitch edge is finished with an I-cord border for a neat, polished look.

The shawl begins at one corner and grows continuously towards the center, then decreases back to the original stitch count. The garter stitch and lace sections are worked simultaneously, with the two colors crossed at the join using the intarsia technique to prevent gaps.

Tendril can be knitted in a single color, but I think it becomes much richer and more interesting when worked in two contrasting colors. I recommend choosing a solid or subtly colored yarn for the lace section, while the garter stitch section can be a gradient yarn. However, the final choice is entirely yours! My testers also created some absolutely gorgeous shawls using the colors in reverse, so feel free to experiment and make Tendril your own.
