I like slouchy beanies that are long enough to keep my ears covered, but they’re not always warm enough to withstand our Canadian winter winds. So, for those of you with the same problem, this pattern gives you the option of lining your hat with a layer of extra coziness.

For the hat: 160-190 yds worsted or aran weight
For the liner: 160-190 yds DK for the worsted weight hat, or worsted weight for the aran weight hat (This should be a soft yarn that you can wear against your skin without itching. I like fuzzy natural fibers, like alpaca or qiviut, for this which will felt a bit over time into a nice wind-tight lining.)
3 and 4 mm dpns (or use short circulars/magic loop up to the crown decreases)
