“Tentsmuir is a beautiful nature reserve in Fife, Scotland. A tangling web of woodland paths, lined by towering forest trees; rich in wildlife.

Drawing on this natural inspiration I wanted to emulate this in knitting through the use of texture: the cables being to towering pine trees either side of the paths, the garter stitch columns.

I envision walking through the crisp autumn air wrapped in my Tentsmuir Cardigan, wandering deep into the welcoming natural vista. ”
– Rebecca Duncan

The Tentsmuir cardigan is a dropped shoulder cardigan, worked bottom-up. The body is knit first, then stitches are divided for front left, front right and back panel. The back panel is worked in a trapezium shape. The front left and front right panels are then worked and seamed to the back panel, along the shoulder seam. Finally, the sleeves are worked in the round with a cable running along the underarm and into the cuff.
