Finished cowl measures about 10” wide by 9” tall.

The pattern is worked in the round, joining each row together slip stitching the last stitch to the first stitch. To create a texture without taking away from the colors of this beautiful yarn. The pattern includes 4 row repeats of one stitch and 3 row repeats of another stitch. Chain at the beginning of each row does not count as a stitch.

I originally designed this pattern with Malabrigo’s Mecha yarn. It’s a lovely bulky single-ply pure merino superwash wool that is so soft and cozy. The color, Arco Iris, is simply gorgeous it reminds me of beautiful stained glass windows or a mosaic of colorful glass. It’s what inspired the name of my cowl. Tesserae is a small block of tile or glass used in making mosaics.

I imagine you could make this in any bulky weight yarn keeping in mind that Mecha has a slight thick-and-thin texture. Use a weight of the yarn you choose that will work up well in the gauge listed. That will ensure the consistency in the size of your cowl.
