This pattern is worked from the band upwards. Gauge varies in this project based on yarns you choose and the various stitches. Some hats may be slightly slouchier or slightly smaller than others depending on the mixture of yarns you choose and in which rounds you place them, but generally, the fit shouldn’t change by much so long as you are using a 5mm hook and worsted weight yarn.
