At one end of the cover there is a sea cave, cut deep into the cliff. Inside this cathedral atmosphere, sheets of almost tangible light bounce off the sea and play upon the wet cave walls, carved over time into fantastic shapes. Watching the interplay of light, color, and texture is rather like watching the flickering of a fire, and I have never seen the same effect twice. To capture just one of the cave’s moods, I used yarn hand-dyed in random colors, although mauve is predominant. The result is a sweater both rich and exotic.

Yardage: not given. The pattern calls for sportweight wool, 3/4/4/4 3 1/2 oz (100 g) hanks in a solid color, and 5 (all sizes) 3 1/2 oz (100 g) hanks in multicolor.
