The hat is knitted in the round using 2 colors. It features an irregular sequence of purled and knitted rounds giving the hat an attractive texture.
Stitches used in this pattern are knit, purl and knit 2 together.

I made the pictured hat using sportweight yarn made from the wool of our sheep. The grey yarn is a natural color and the dyed yarn is hand-painted with ‘Greener Shades’ dyes.
The second picture shows the hat knitted in different colors.

The circumference of the unstretched hat is 22 inches (56cm) before blocking.

To knit the hat you will need:
1 circular knitting needle size 4 (3.5mm) 16 inches long
1 set of 5 double-pointed needles no.4 (3.5mm)
1 tapestry needle for weaving in the ends
1 stitch marker.

This pattern is for personal, non-commercial use only.

If you are interested in our yarn (Timberwolf Farm) I can send you information about what we have available at the time. Since we are selling at local markets, availability of our yarns varies. We have 2 alpacas and 11 sheep. We carry sportweight and DK (light worsted) yarns in white and different shades of gray. Some of it is spun and blended by hand. I also dye yarn with plants from our garden (indigo, coreopsis, madder, marigold, weld) and with acid dyes from the Greener Shades brand.
