The Textured Triptych Shawl is an asymmetrically triangular shawl with an all-over texture and three ‘colour blocks’ produced by alternating two skeins of low to mid-contrast yarns. You can easily create a larger shawl by adding a third skein of yarn to the mix.

The pattern has been designed to use two 100 gram skeins of 100% Superwash BFL yarn. You can either use two skeins of Tippy Taps DK or two skeins of Tippy Taps Sock held double.

Gauge isn’t terribly important BUT, slip stitches patterns like this do tend to jack up your tension. For this reason I do recommend knitting the first 20 rows of the pattern and then checking the floppiness of the piece. You want it floppy, not stiff. If it doesn’t flop, start over, going up a needle size or two.

The woven moss stitch used throughout strikes a happy balance between easy-peasy and lemon-squeezy. It’s a simple slip stitch technique that anyone can do, but which requires a quick check-in with the pattern at the beginning and end of each row to make sure you’re on track. It’s TV friendly!

Colour choices:

If you want more of a gradual fade or gradient look to your knit shawl, choose two yarns that are low contrast. I really love the combination of a speckled yarn and a tonal yarn.

Choose higher contrast yarns for a more punchy finished object!
