Textured Women's Shrug
A cosy shrug with an impressive cable on the back, which is composed of both stocking and garter stitch. The surrounding fabric is in a simple textural combination of knit and purl known as box stitch.
Techniques used: provisional cast on, cables, circular knitting, picking up stitches
Sizes
Small - 94cm (37”) wide by 59cm (23 1/4”) deep
Medium - 101cm (39 3/4”) wide by 61cm (24”) deep
Large - - 107cm (42”) wide by 63cm (24 4/4”) deep
Yarn: Rowan Cocoon Chunky
Small - 5 balls
Medium - 5 balls
Large - 6 balls
Needles
A: 6mm x 80cm Circular Needle
B: 6.5mm x 80cm Circular Needle
C: 8mm x 80cm Circular Needle
D: 8mm crochet hook (for provisional cast on)
E: Cable Needle
F: Extra 8mm needle for working the seam join
Notions
- Stitch markers, at least 2
- Stitch holders x2
- A long length of small light-coloured yarn (or a spare circular needle) to hold a large number of stitches
- Smooth contrast-colour yarn for the provisional cast on
- Large eyed sewing needle
Notes
Cable pattern is charted only.
All other instructions are written.
Main body of the shrug is worked flat.
Neckband/front/bottom edging is worked in the round.
Fabric is reversible.
