I cannot count how often we’ve danced the night away at Mulligan’s, our favourite pub on Gran Canaria. These socks were designed for Kevin, who is not only a friend, but also the musician in said pub and who has entertained us time and again. It’s high time I told him: Thank you for the music, Kev!

The socks are knit cuff down with heel flap and gusset. They come in two sizes, M and L to fit leg circumference 20 (22.5) cm 7.75 (9)“. Leg length and foot length are adjustable.

The pattern comes with 15 different motifs: musical notes and bass and treble clef, between 5 and 18 stitches wide and between 10 and 46 rows high. The idea is to place them randomly on a Stockinette Stitch background. Just use one motif, for example the treble clef as an eye-catching stand-alone feature or place different motifs all over the socks – whatever you like best. If desired, the motifs can even be continued onto the heel flap and the toe. Each of the motifs is included as a chart and also as written instructions.

If you don’t want to place the music motifs randomly, there are placement suggestions given at the end of the pattern. Leg length including heel results in 23.5 cm 9.25” and foot length in 21.5 (26.75) cm 8.5 (10.5)” when knit as given in these suggestions. But please note: These placement suggestions are charted only. There are only written instructions for each individual motif used, but there aren’t any line by line instructions for the placement suggestions.
