There is a hat that is selling in Toronto for $200 !! A rib knit tuque that is lined with Qiviut. Wow! I decided that I could create my own pattern like this hat. It too is a 1x1 rib knit toque but the lining is knitted out of Drops Alpaca. Still very light and warm. Meant to be a snug fitting tuque it is available in 2 sizes, youth & adult. Adult would be suitable for most teen/adult heads.

First you will knit the exterior of the hat which is essentially a ribbed tube, made long enough to turn up the brim about 1-1/2 - 2 inches, and with simple decreases at the top. While knitting the ribbing you will insert a strand of waste yarn at row 20 to mark the row for picking up for the lining. Interior of hat is knit in the round, in stocking stitch. The lining may look slightly larger but they will be the same when the ribbing is stretched out during wearing.

Materials:
1 x Berroco Vintage DK - 2189 Charcoal
1 x Drops Alpaca - Red

There are many gorgeous combinations of Vintage DK & Drops Alpaca that could be used. Lt grey & soft pink, med grey & sky blue, dk grey & coral, and the options go on & on. The most important thing is to give a high contrast between the two. A nice peep of colour on the inside provides interest.

I hope you enjoy this pattern. Go ahead & make your own hat!!
