This hat looks complicated but as long as you can cast on, knit, purl, slip stitches, and decrease, it’s for you!

You will need at least 2 colors for this pattern, but it can be done with more if you choose (this pattern can be a good use of those small skeins). Most of the sample hats use two colors but the Child’s hat has 4 colors. You can add more colors whenever and wherever you wish.

It can be knit with either sport weight or DK weight—you will need to change your needle size depending on which you choose—and comes in toddler, child, and adult sizes.

Needles:
Sport weight: Size 4 and 6
DK weight: Size 2 and 3

Gauge for both yarn weights: Ribbing: 6 stitches per inch
Slip pattern: 6.5 stitches per inch
