Thaum is a unit of magical measurement in Terry Pratchett’s Discworld Series. It is just enough magic to create one small, white dove or three regulation size billiard balls. This cowl looks like it’s a simple circle of stars around your neck, but you can pop it up to its full height and BAM, there’s a bird. Just like magic.

This pattern calls for 81 size 4.5mm beads and a crochet hook small enough to go through the beads, so you can slip the beads into the stitch. A chart for placing the beads is included.
