This pattern is double knit and is SUPER warm!! I designed it with the cold Minnesota winters in mind and LOVE it!! It only makes one size as written, but if you would like to make a different size of hat, I would suggest you go down a needle size and/or go down a few stitches. This hat looks very similar to the Thorpe hat by Kirsten Kapur and was in fact inspired by her!

The pattern contains an explanation of how to do double knitting and the techniques involved in it. So if you’ve never done double knitting before, this should be a great intro to it!

The pattern involves chart knitting, a bit of crochet, braiding, double knitting and patience! It is fast once you get going, but to get there is to climb a mountain!!

I hope this hat will keep you warm and toasty!!
